Carinna is a practising midwife and Professional Midwifery Advocate with an interest in Antenatal Education, Public Health and student experience and retention.

Background

Having worked in the public sector for 7 years, Carinna pursued her dream of training as a midwife. She qualified as a midwife in 2016 and worked in all areas of maternity including antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal and community midwifery before working as a labour ward co-ordinator and in a management role before joining ARU in 2021. Since then, Carinna has thoroughly enjoyed working with student and newly qualified midwives.

Since qualifying as a Professional Midwifery Advocate, Carinna has continued to explore how the role can increase student retention by offering the service at an undergraduate level.
