Background

Ben initially worked in the NHS as a staff nurse at an acute medical unit before transferring to a critical care setting. He continued to work as a charge nurse in a cardiothoracic intensive care, where he was actively involved in staff and student education. His passion for education motivated him to pursue a MSc degree in Medical and Healthcare Education, in which he studied and explored how intensive care nurses prioritise tasks to make sound and life-preserving clinical decisions within fast-paced and stressful environments.

Before joining ARU, Ben was a senior lecturer at a London-based university where he played significant roles related to module leadership, mentoring, student teaching and assessment, staff training for virtual learning and teaching, as well as liaising with external partners to ensure that a continuum is established between nursing theory and practice.
