Background

Ami is a Human Geographer, with the concepts of place, space and scale underpinning her research and understanding of the world. Drawing upon qualitative research methods, she is interested in understanding the different narratives, experiences, and relationships within society. Much of her work is guided by developing insights that are of policy-relevance, with the intention of supporting different voices and perspectives to be captured within governance processes.

Ami’s PhD research focused on the governance of place-based decarbonisation visions. Drawing upon a case study of Greater Manchester, UK, she utilised a relational framing to unpack the politics, power dynamics, and justice implications of decarbonisation ambitions. She is currently exploring opportunities for building upon the insights from her PhD using creative research methods and mapping.

Through her role in the GSI, Ami has experience of working on EU-funded consortium projects, including SSH CENTRE and SHARED GREEN DEAL. Within the SSH CENTRE, alongside colleagues, she edited a book on interdisciplinary recommendations for EU energy policy. Previously, she was involved in the POWER UP project, which focused on innovative social business models to support those experiencing energy poverty to participate in energy transitions. Her role focused on evaluating the activities undertaken and overseeing the production of accessible materials that synthesised the project’s learnings.
