Writtle College is welcoming record numbers of learners to study its courses this September.

The College, part of ARU Writtle, has seen enrolments increase by 17% since last year, with students beginning their courses in the coming weeks.

As well as welcoming its largest ever cohort of students, the College is also celebrating its exam results, with high grades in English and Maths well above the national average.

In English, 35% of learners at Writtle College achieved grade 4 or above compared with the average of 18% in further education establishments in the country, and 28% in sixth form colleges.

In Maths, the percentage of learners achieving grade 4 or above was 21%, higher than the national averages for further education establishments (15%) and sixth form colleges (20%).

Writtle College, which was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in June, offers Level 1, 2 and 3 courses, including T-Levels and apprenticeships, for 16-18-year-olds as well as adult learners.

Particularly popular this year are new T-Level courses in Animal Management and Agriculture. Among other new courses for 25/26 include Level 1 courses in the areas of Animal Studies and Equine, and a Level 2 Certificate in Veterinary Care Support.

“The fact that we are welcoming record numbers of learners to Writtle College this year is testament to our unique land-based curriculum and outstanding learning environment. Our staff are constantly praised for knowing the individual student and going the extra mile to support learners.

“Our curriculum offer is developed in close partnership with employers and enables students to consolidate their learning in their chosen area and quickly progress onto meaning employment or higher education.

“I would also like to congratulate those students who achieved GCSE results well above the national average in English and Maths, which is an outstanding achievement.”
