Chief nurse handed new role at Anglia Ruskin

Diane Sarkar has been appointed to help educate the region’s nurses of the future
The Chief Nursing Officer of Mid Essex, Southend, and Basildon Hospitals, Diane Sarkar, has been appointed as a visiting professor at Anglia Ruskin University to assist with bringing through the next generation of nurses for the county and wider region.
The appointment will further cement Anglia Ruskin’s links with local NHS Trusts, promote leadership, and help ensure the curriculum continues to produce students who are ready for the workplace when they complete their education.
Diane Sarkar said:
“This kind of joint working will provide opportunities for staff from the very beginning of their careers right through to retirement.
“Promoting visible leadership for nurses and midwives is vital in supporting them to develop and provide the very best care.”
Professor Ruth Taylor, Dean of the Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine and Social Care, said:
“Diane already plays a prominent role in relation to the work that we do in the faculty with our staff and our students. She works closely with us to ensure that we offer the best learning experiences for our students so that they go on to develop into excellent nurses, many of whom go on to work in Diane’s Trust.
“Diane’s role with the School of Nursing and Midwifery will ensure that, as a national leader in nursing, her expertise will inform what we teach our students, how we support our students in practice together, and provide strategic input around healthcare leadership and policy.”
Diane’s appointment follows that of Ann-Marie Ingle, former Chief Nurse of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, who joined Anglia Ruskin as a visiting professor in the summer.
