ARU startup events to support Essex entrepreneurs
Experts to give talks and facilitate networking at free Startup Social initiative

The Arise Innovation Hub at ARU's Chelmsford campus
Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) is delivering a series of expert talks and events aimed at helping entrepreneurs and early-stage businesses to access enterprise support.
Funded by the North Essex Economic Board (NEEB), the Startup Socials will be hosted at the Arise Innovation Hub at ARU in Chelmsford and the new initiative is designed to help build a community of early-stage founders, freelancers, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
The first Startup Social event on 22 October will feature a talk by Jamille Sammour, co-founder of one of the UK’s fastest-growing data and AI startups, 5Y Technology. Jamille will share his founder journey and explore how AI and data are shaping the future of entrepreneurship and business growth.
Aimed at the wider community as well as students, the Startup Socials will provide a relaxed, accessible space for local innovators to connect, share experiences, and gain practical insights from guest speakers and peers. With networking opportunities, and expert input – as well as pizza – Startup Socials aim to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in North Essex.
The programme reflects ARU’s wider civic mission to support local economic growth, innovation, and community collaboration. Backed by funding from NEEB, it also marks ARU’s continued commitment to nurturing talent and enterprise in the region.
“We are delighted to be launching a speaker and networking series that celebrates and supports the entrepreneurial ecosystem in mid and north Essex. We see a lot of high potential startups in the region. The support from NEEB will bring together our entrepreneurial network to help supercharge new businesses.”
Gary Packham, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at ARUThe first event takes place from 12.30pm until 2pm on Wednesday, 22 October at the Arise Innovation Hub at ARU’s Chelmsford campus.
