About us

Anglia Ruskin Clinical Trials Unit (ARCTU) sits within ARU's Faculty of Health, Medicine and Social Care (HeMS). It is a progressive unit that has established a record of successful delivery of investigator-led and commercial trials.

ARCTU's aims are to:

• Collaborate with investigators on projects, with a particular focus on clinical effectiveness trials that have been awarded funding from sources including the UK government, charities, industry, and the European Commission. We offer investigators support to take their research from a basic idea and develop it into a well-designed study.
• Collaborate with pharmaceutical and commercial companies who are looking to test their products in a clinical environment. The support we offer ranges from providing advice on the regulatory environment in the UK, to helping to plan and run large-scale studies.
• Lead springboard projects to secure future major funding.

We have advanced expertise in supporting the design, planning, and delivery of research studies across clinical specialities and methodologies.

We are passionate about delivering high quality responsive trials that directly address the true health needs of patients and the public. To this end, we have strong collaborations with local and national charities and patient advocacy groups, who regularly contribute to our research. We also have advanced expertise in Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in clinical research, which features in all our ongoing clinical trials.
