Citation

"Vice Chancellor, it is my pleasure to read the citation for Peter Taylor for the award of Doctor of Business Administration, honoris causa.

Peter Taylor is a physicist, entrepreneur and Managing Director of TTP Group - Europe's leading independent technology and product development company.

After graduating from Cambridge University with a Masters in Natural Sciences, Peter began his career at PA Consulting, working on science and technology consulting for companies large and small worldwide. It was to prove a valuable grounding in the commercial realities of the world of business, and Peter put the experience to good use when he became one of the founders of The Technology Partnership in 1987.

The Partnership has since grown to become TTP Group, a family of technology businesses with interests in markets as diverse as healthcare and communications and a whole range of consumer products. Whatever sector the group moves into, the business model is always the same - to create a new business based on advances in technology, and Peter has a remarkable record of devising technological innovations and converting them into valued products that deliver commercial success.

TTP Group's achievements have seen them twice win The Queen's Award for Enterprise, the UK's most respected and most prestigious award for business. In 1999 the group was presented with the Technological Achievement award in recognition of their development of ChemScan, an instrument that rapidly detects bacteria in water and food samples. The device was developed and is manufactured by TTP LabTech, an operating division of TTP. Then in 2008, TTP Group was presented with The Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade, in recognition of the company's impressive export revenue. The group's track-record of exporting innovation and technology to the high-tech centres of Japan and the rest of Asia represents a truly remarkable achievement.

In addition to his work with TTP Group, Peter is also a long-standing director of the Cambridge Network, an organisation that brings together technology companies and academics to share ideas, collaborate and build partnerships for shared success. Their stated mission is to 'help raise Cambridge's game, to compete on the world stage'.

Here at Anglia Ruskin we already enjoy close links with Peter through his role as Chair and sponsor of CEDAR - our Centre for Enterprise, Development and Research at the Lord Ashcroft International Business School. His experience and insights are invaluable in helping to produce entrepreneurial individuals and organisations that are properly equipped to take on the challenges of today's complex and rapidly evolving business environment.

We are delighted to recognise Peter's outstanding achievements in technology and innovation and as an exceptional business leader, which makes him an excellent role model for our students. We are delighted to welcome Peter Taylor to our Anglia Ruskin community.

Vice Chancellor, it is my pleasure to present Peter Taylor for the award of Doctor of Business Administration, honoris causa."
