Drink spiking remains a significant public safety concern, particularly for young people and those participating in nightlife and social activities.

In this engaging event, ARU's Spiking Research Team will share the latest findings from their interdisciplinary research and discuss how evidence can be translated into practical action.

We'll explore:

  • what drink spiking is and how prevalent it is today
  • the impacts and outcomes experienced by survivors
  • challenges associated with detecting spiking agents
  • barriers that can prevent victims from reporting incidents
  • current research findings and recommendations
  • practical steps individuals and communities can take to increase safety.

The team will explain different testing methods, including which sample types can be analysed and the timeframes involved in detection. Drawing on research conducted in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders, the event will provide valuable insight into one of today's most important public safety issues.

Following the talk, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • explore a range of drink-testing kits and anti-spiking product
  • learn how different products work
  • consider the strengths and limitations of available approaches
  • make informed decisions about their use.

The team will also introduce their educational toolkit on drink spiking, designed to:

  • raise awareness and understanding
  • challenge common myths and misconceptions
  • signpost reporting routes and support services
  • encourage informed conversations and safer communities.

Join us to learn about the latest research and discover how we can work together to tackle drink spiking and create safer environments for everyone.
