The Centre for Business and Society at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge are happy to invite you to our first research seminar in 2026. It will take place online and on campus in Cambridge.
We will be joined by Bernd Vogel, Professor in Leadership, Founding Director Henley Centre for Leadership UK & Henley Centre for Leadership Africa, and Research Division Lead at Henley Business School, University of Reading. Bernd will mirror his extensive research experience on leadership against CBS’s foci on work, organizations and society. Please do join us for what promises to be an interesting discussion on leadership research and how it holds against the test of time.
"For this talk I set myself the challenge to mirror some of my research on leadership against the CBS's three focal points of work, organizations and society and ask: Does it matter? In 2018 we did a report based on 50 interviews on the future of society, organizations, work, and leadership, distilling 17 trends and dilemmas towards the year 2028. Do those still hold value, and can they still inform stakeholders? Following this, I share published research on sustaining human energy in organizations, the knowing-doing gap in leadership, and the link between leadership development and societal challenges. We will explore what these findings’ value has been so far, and how they may ultimately better work and society."
Bernd’s research and practice focus on strategic leadership to sustain human energy and organizational performance at healthy levels, top management teams, purpose, future of leadership, the knowing-doing-gap in leadership, leadership development. He has been working for more than 25 years in business schools, universities, and with global companies, public sector organizations, and senior leaders. He has published books and numerous academic articles and is running the podcast ‘Leadership Unlocked’.
