Senior Lecturer to talk at British Library symposium

Dr Jeannette Baxter (Senior Lecturer, English Literature) has been invited to speak at a special one-day symposium at the British Library, Inner Space: J G Ballard in the Seventies.

Jeannette will take part in a special panel discussion with Iain Sinclair (novelist), Fay Ballard (artist, and daughter of J.G. Ballard) and Chris Hall (The Guardian) to discuss J.G. Ballard’s writing from the 1970s, and the forthcoming release of Ben Wheatley’s powerful film of High-Rise (released on 18 March).

Jeannette is a world-leading scholar on J.G. Ballard’s work, having published three books, including the critically-acclaimed J.G. Ballard’s Surrealist Imagination (2009). Jeannette also collaborates with Fay Ballard on a number of text and image-based projects relating to J.G. Ballard’s work, such as two recent art exhibitions in collaboration with Phil Goss: ‘The Drowned World’ (Aldeburgh Look-Out Tower), and ‘Alligators in the Hallway’ (Centre for Recent Drawing, London).

The symposium took place on Sunday 13 March 2016.
