On their optional module "Podcasting", our 2nd year BA (Hons) Media and Communication students worked on a live brief with broadcaster Trevor Dann of Cam 105 to produce a series of short podcasts that were aired on the station.

Among the topics considered in the podcasts were the films of Greta Gerwig; the songs of Paul Weller and The Clash; the space travelling ambitions of billionaire men; women’s rugby; and why some women are turning against the idea of having children. You can listen to the programme containing all the podcasts on the Cam 105 website.

Student Connie Barfoot said of the live brief:

“This experience has made me consider going into this field in the future. Being able to use the podcasting facilities that ARU offers, and getting to interact with Trevor Dann, has made me more interested in radio as a career path – one I was not considering before.

"Having Trevor look over our work and give us advice was nerve-wracking but ultimately insightful and beneficial. He has many years of experience and was able to help us develop and complete our podcasts. Working on a podcast individually has made me more confident as a person, hearing feedback and critically assessing my own work. We also worked together to give constructive criticism to one another and share our knowledge on recording, editing, and scripting etc.”
