PhD Music Therapy student Stella Compton Dickinson has recently released a new book, The Clinician’s Guide to Forensic Music Therapy. 

Co-written with Laurien Hakvoort and published through Jessica Kingsley Publishers, it is the first manual for music therapy in forensic settings since 2012’s Forensic Music Therapy, also co-edited by Stella.

The book provides treatment manuals for group cognitive analytic music therapy (G-CAMT) and music therapy anger management (MTAM).

A launch was held at the Freud Museum, London in April, and was well attended by forensic psychiatrists, psychotherapists, psychologists, music therapists and musicians, as well as the local press.

Professor Helen Odell-Miller, who wrote the foreword for the book, also gave a talk at the launch.
