Gamebridge Grows!
ARU-hosted gaming festival attracts highest attendance yet

ARU prize winners, l-r Sunny Turner, Owen Monaghan, Esmee Purcell, and William Peel
Over 500 hundred students, along with reps from game developers and leading experts, attended this year’s Gamebridge gaming festival.
Hosted annually by ARU and organised by a team of local developers that includes former ARU lecturer Dominic Chapman, Gamebridge aims to remove barriers and help young people plan their careers in the gaming industry.
As well as providing networking and development opportunities, the event also offers prizes for the best work by teams or individuals. This year over £5,000 of prize money was up for grabs for winning submissions, with ARU students taking two of the top prizes and two runner-up places.
Dr Heather Lilley, Head of Cambridge School of Creative Industries, said:
“It was a wonderful event with over 500 attendees (despite the heat!) including our own students who won a number of prestigious awards and prizes. I had a great time seeing so much brilliant student work and talking to employers. and thanks to all the Games staff who attended, gave talks and supported our students.”
You can see more images from the festival and a full list of ARU prize winners on our Gamebridge showcase page.
