Alex Thomas Scrine

Originally from Wales, Alex has a strong personal interest in education, sport and widening access to opportunity. 

Alex has spent most of his career in financial services, including 20 years with Deutsche Bank in London and Frankfurt, where he held a range of senior Finance and Chief Operating Officer roles. His most recent role there was Chief Financial Officer for Global Technology.

In 2024, he joined Standard Chartered Bank in London as Chief Financial Officer for Strategy & Talent, a division spanning Real Estate, Human Resources, Marketing, Strategy and Procurement.

At Standard Chartered, he is actively involved in social mobility and is the key sponsor of a flagship programme designed to increase early-careers access into financial services and the City. He is also passionate about people development, skills-building and the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

Alex lives locally in Ingatestone, close to Writtle College. Outside work, and when not kept busy by his four teenage children, he enjoys supporting youth sport and has coached and managed junior football and rugby teams.

This combination of senior finance leadership, commitment to social mobility and local community involvement underpins his interest in supporting Writtle College and its students.
