Train as an Occupational Therapist while you work on our Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship. Gain a BSc (Hons), HCPC registered and RCOT-accredited qualification, with no tuition fees, and enter this rewarding career.
If you’re a good communicator, practical, and want to help people live fuller lives, this course could be for you.
Occupational therapy is a growing health and social care role in the UK, with people living longer - often with long term and complex health needs. Occupational Therapists support people to do the things that matter – from daily tasks to work and leisure. You’ll help individuals across the lifespan regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Trained in both physical and mental health, you’ll learn to assess people’s needs and co-create plans that support their goals – no matter their challenges.
An apprenticeship is a paid job with training. You’ll gain hands-on experience while working towards your degree.
At least 20% of your working hours will be set aside for learning. This time, known as ‘off-the-job’ training, is dedicated to developing the skills and knowledge needed for your role.
You’ll learn through:
Each trimester begins with a 3-day teaching block. After that, you’ll study one day a week.
You’ll be assessed at the end of each module, and your results will count towards your final degree.
You’ll also complete an End Point Assessment (EPA). This is built into your final course assessments. So, when you finish your degree, you’ll also complete the apprenticeship and be ready to register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as an Occupational Therapist.
We use a range of assessments to reflect the real-world knowledge and skills you’ll need, including:
Occupational Therapy Placement Assessment Framework (OTPAF) documents
Each module will provide you with the opportunities to develop and practice your clinical skills to meet the Health and Care professions Council Standards of Proficiency for Occupational Therapists (2023). You will develop the ability to apply knowledge and skills learned, in a real-world clinical setting, working with a variety of service users, their families and carers. Simulation in the University Skills Laboratory supports practice in a safe environment.
Our Occupational Therapy MSc is validated by the Health & Care Professions Council, allowing you to register with the HCPC when you graduate and work as a professional occupational therapist.
Our Occupational Therapy MSc is accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).
