After graduating with an MSc Construction Project Management in 2024, Osereimen Akhilele embarked on a career in construction – while also working with communities in the UK and internationally.
Osereimen started his career as a Graduate Assistant Site Manager with Rooff, a principal building contractor. His active involvement in university initiatives – including roles as a Student Ambassador, SHoKE participant, and collaborating on group projects – equipped him with the adaptability and collaborative mindset essential in the construction industry.
Driven by a strong commitment to community engagement, mentorship and career development, Osereimen has led various initiatives through his involvement with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Tomorrow’s Leaders. He has organised school career and taster events, helping to promote construction as a career path while honing his public speaking and event-planning skills.
His passion for making a difference also extends beyond the UK. Through his family’s charity, Daniel Osaremen Akhilele Foundation, Osereimen recently organised a medical outreach programme in Nigeria, providing free tests and medication for individuals living with liver cirrhosis. In the UK, he curated and delivered a CIOB panel session titled Building Professionalism in Construction, aimed at addressing industry skills gaps. Osereimen now serves as the Tomorrow’s Leaders Representative at the CIOB Chelmsford Hub and is the current President of Chelmsford Speakers Toastmasters.
Osereimen's story is a reminder that ARU graduates don’t just enter the workforce – they create meaningful change. Rooff quickly recognised the potential behind his dedication, leadership, and community engagement. These qualities have not only propelled his own career forward but have inspired others to pursue their ambitions with purpose.
