Call for papers
The conference committee invites abstracts from distributors, manufacturers, group purchasing organisations, OEM/inspection and maintenance service providers, and academics corresponding with the conference themes:
- Automation and digitalisation in plant defect and life management (including for operation, inspection, detection and monitoring).
- New developments using artificial intelligence (AI) for defect and life assessment of engineering components.
- Crack repairs.
- Fracture and failure of industrial components.
- Plant management and operation including best practices, efficiency, and risks (risk-based approach).
- Renewable energy generation (innovation, safety, design and development, deployment).
- Smart and novel materials for high temperature and corrosion resistance including for construction applications.
When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Full name, including title
- Institution/organisation
- Position/job role
- Email address
- The theme your abstract best aligns with
- An abstract (max. 2,500 characters) including the following:
- Introduction
- Objectives
- Methodology
- Results
- Conclusions
- Three main keywords

The deadline for abstract submission is 23.59 GMT on 30 January 2026.
All abstracts will be reviewed by the conference committee, and notifications of acceptance will be sent by 27 February.
Journal publications
Although the HIDA conference is industry-focussed, every effort is made to publish any papers offered in international journals. We are currently in discussion with a number of journals, and will advise accepted speakers of the outcome in due course.
