HIDA-9 International Conference

Defect/Crack/Life Assessment of Industrial Components (including Automation, Digitalisation and AI Applications)

8-10 September 2026, Chelmsford, UK

ARU and European Technology Development Ltd (ETD) are pleased to announce the next International Conference in High Temperature Defect Assessment (HIDA-9), taking place from 8-10 September 2026 at ARU in Chelmsford.

HIDA-9 is aimed at industry engineers and academics/researchers from all over the world. HIDA focuses on damage/defects/cracks in engineering components and their Fitness-for-Service or safe remaining life assessment in the presence of such defects.

The assessment of the behaviour of industrial components in the presence of damage/defects has become an area of urgent need and interest of many industrial sectors including oil and gas, power generation, process plants, maritime, automotive and aerospace. Damage and life assessment is now recognised as being critical to effective plant management.

HIDA has been involved in the establishment of international standards/codes on damage and life assessment of engineering materials/components and has contributed to ASME, British Standard, European standard (EN) and in-house standards including EDF R5/R6 used by leading energy suppliers.

In addition to high temperature damage and life assessments, HIDA-9 will cover industrial best practices in inspection and maintenance of both metallic and non-metallic engineering components, and in the application of sensing technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the inspection and monitoring of industrial components' integrity.
