University and students win recognition from Chartered Management Institute

Anglia Ruskin University has won two national awards, recognising the impact it is making on employability as well as the management and leadership skills of its students.

Anglia Ruskin received the Partner of the Year award at the Chartered Management Institute’s (CMI) inaugural Higher Education (HE) Awards. Student Jack Williamson, who is studying the BA Management and Leadership course run in conjunction with Barclays, also won the Student of the Year award.

Two other Anglia Ruskin students, Harry Pepper and Christian Mussard, were also finalists in the Apprentice of the Year category.

Institutions were judged by the impact they have made on student employability, professional development and enrichment of student experience. Shortlisted students all showed a high level of academic achievement as well as professional development in management and leadership.

Dr Sally Everett, Deputy Dean at Anglia Ruskin’s Faculty of Business and Law said:

“We are absolutely delighted that the Business School at Anglia Ruskin University has been recognised with this prestigious award from the CMI.

“From the outset, we were in no doubt of the benefits our partnership with this professional body would bring to our students, graduates and staff.  We have been determined to maximise the opportunities offered by the CMI.

“Since 2014, we have enjoyed a relationship which is broad, far-reaching, and value-adding. This award acknowledges a curriculum which is professionally accredited, employer-engaged, and recognises the value of courses which embed external speakers, industry insights and the development of practical real-life skills.

Vanessa Knowles, Director of Corporate Programmes at Anglia Ruskin, said:

“In Jack’s nomination, he was recognised for the work that he had undertaken as part of his degree programme.

“Barclays PLC played a significant role, not only promoting Jack’s abilities and talents and his excellent personal brand, but it was also a great means by which his programme and Anglia Ruskin has been promoted within Barclays PLC at significant levels.”

The awards were held on Thursday 21 February at the CMI’s annual HE conference in Bishopsgate, London.
