Lou describes what it is like to study an accelerated Primary Education Studies degree at ARU Peterborough.

I joined the very first Primary Education accelerated course at ARU Peterborough back in September 2020. This course is a fast-track two-year degree which is worth the exact same as a three-year degree, the only difference is that it’s faster to complete if you are keen or want to get your career underway faster!

We have one full day of learning face-to-face on campus including personal development and tutorial time which ensures our development overall with the support of our academics. Our course leader is Tara Jakes who is a brilliant role model for us future teachers, she makes sure that everything possible is put into place to provide us with the best chance for success.

Our other academics are also wonderful, experienced, and down to earth, meaning no matter what, I always feel supported. There are only 13 students in my class but that allows us to have personalised 1-2-1 learning and feedback opportunities. We all get along so well and have so much fun together creating mini projects, study times or even our fabulous Christmas class quiz alongside secret Santa!

I am very exited for the new campus to open in Peterborough. It will be a great, modern, and well-equipped building to support future students on degrees like mine with their studies.

Alongside existing degrees like Primary Education and Nursing, there will be many new courses led by the most amazing academics. I think it will create better opportunities for Peterborough and the people who live here. Our city has never had the most dazzling places to attract people but with our new campus, the graduations at the cathedral and the adaptations to retail and leisure in the city centre, I think Peterborough will become a new hotspot.
