School:School of Nursing and Midwifery

Course: BSc (Hons) Child Nursing

Hi! My name is Abbi and I am a BSc (Hons) Child Nursing student in Chelmsford. My time is split between learning in university (in lectures and practical skills sessions) and learning in practice in either the wards of hospitals or out in the community.

During my first year of university, I lived on campus and I am currently living in private accommodation with three of my friends.

I have already been on placements in a general paediatric ward, a day surgery unit, a neonatal unit and Health visiting. I am about to start my placement in A&E (Accident and Emergency.) I have really enjoyed all of my placements so far and have realised through them how committed I am to become a child nurse and how I cannot wait until I am qualified.

Outside of my studies, I work at the university as a Student Ambassador in a variety of events such as campus tours, nursing interview days and open days. I am also part of the RAG society and committee, a fundraising society, in which we organise events to raise money for our chosen charities such as Amnesty International, East Anglia Children’s Hospices, books2Africa and AIDS Orphan.
