Music therapy graduates reunite for major international conference

The 15th World Congress of Music Therapy took place in Tsukuba, Japan between 4-8 July 2017

International graduates from Anglia Ruskin’s MA Music Therapy presented a Round Table on the subject of 'Between East and West. The Journey of UK trained Music Therapists in Asia'. They spoke about what they had learnt at Anglia Ruskin and discussed bring this to their home cultures of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan and Singapore

In addition to this graduates from the last 15 years presented papers on a range of subjects demonstrating how well they have developed their music therapy practice since leaving Anglia Ruskin.

Dr Helen Loth, Course Leader, MA Music Therapy at Anglia Ruskin presented a paper co-written with colleague Eleanor Richards on students' first experience of clinical work and supervision, with a specific focus on the particular issues which International students face.

Helen said 'it was amazing to see so many of our graduates again and see how their studies at ARU have had such a profound impact on them, personally and professionally, and on those they work with'.

The MA Music Therapy course at Anglia Ruskin allows students to get first-hand experience of music therapy practice on supervised clinical placements, learn in a purpose-built therapy centre and receive support from a team of internationally-renowned music therapists.
