World Illustration Awards brings more CSA success
Graduates impress in prestigious international competition
Graduates from our illustration courses have continued Cambridge School of Art’s tradition of success by winning honours in this year's World Illustration Awards.
- Mariajosé Gajate Molina (otherwise known as Mariajo Ilustrajo) took the New Talent overall award, with her children’s picturebook Flooded. Mariajo graduated from our MA Children’s Book Illustration course this year.
- Cecilia Wood 2019 graduate from our BA (Hons) Illustration, was awarded Highly Commended in the New-Comer Book Cover category for her book At My Family’s Table (pictured).
- Mel Castrillon, who studied on both our BA Illustration and MA Children’s Book Illustration, was also Highly Commended in the Professional Book Cover category for her special edition covers of Philip Pullmans' His Dark Materials trilogy, commissioned by Scholastic.
- Lizzie Knot graduated from our BA (Hons) Illustration this year (2020). She was Highly Commended in the Design, Product & Packaging New-Comer category for her 'The Way For All' poster designs for London Transport.
The World Illustration Awards are run buy the Association of Illustrators (AOI), who provide contract and business support to illustrators, champion their rights, and run competitions and events.
This year’s competition received over 4,000 submissions from across the world, with 23 of the shortlisted entries coming from our students and graduates.
Mariajo Illustrajo was also included in dPictus’ recent showcase of unpublished picture books, along with several more of our students and graduates: Thea Lu, Zoe Ellison, Beata Mostowska, Tzu-Chun Chang, Reem Madooh, Clare Andrews, Yang Don.
