Cambridge School of Art alumnus shortlisted for International Film Festival

Congratulations to BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation graduate Jo Pinto, whose film has been shortlisted for FANTASPORTO 2020, the 40th edition of Porto’s International Film Festival.

Jo’s film Jacinta was developed as the major project for her BA Illustration and Animation course, and will feature in the Prize for Best Portuguese Film section of the festival, which promotes short and unpublished feature films from the new generation of Portuguese cinema.

Inspired by the work of Rosa Ramalho, one of Portugal’s most influential clay artists, Jacinta is about an old potter who lives a lonely, repetitive life in her secluded home, but finally allows herself to be inspired by the beauty of the lives around her.

The festival takes place from 28 February to 7 March, with the shortlisted films being screened, and the winner selected, on Day 5.

Last year, Jo also picked up the Screening Room Prize at New Designers 2019, as well as being chosen by Oblique Arts for a variety of creative projects across the city.
