Jim Butler

Cambridge School of Art academic featured in The Guardian for drawing endangered Cambridge pub

Jim Butler, Course Leader for our MA Illustration and Book Arts, was recently featured in The Guardian for his drawings of The Flying Pig, an early Victorian pub in Cambridge now threatened with demolition.

In the article, Jim describes how his drawings over the years have given him the chance to "document the pub as fully as possible while it is still there: to celebrate its visual richness, chat to some regulars, hear some great music and have some sneaky pints along the way."

For over a decade, the site on which The Flying Pig sits has been marked for development. A consultation about the developer's plans is currently ongoing. An online petition to save the Pig has attracted over 14,000 signatures.
