Digital Arts Online names three of our students among “best of show”

We’re delighted to announce that, following this year’s New Designers event at the Business Design Centre in London, three of our graduating students have been picked out as ‘best of show’ by Digital Arts Online.

Works by Katie Holmes, Brian Tyrrell and Ollie St Clair Terry were chosen by the site as being among the top eight "graduate illustrators, artists and designers to watch out for". A fantastic achievement as, with nearly 3,000 design graduates from around Britain attendance at the show, there was huge competition to stand out.

But of course, recognition was not the only reward on offer at the event. Every year, representatives from across industry take part in New Designers too, searching for those inspirational graduates who will add an extra spark to their products or campaigns. On this front, BA (Hons) Illustration Course Leader Chris Draper described this year’s show as “possibly our most successful yet”.

Of our students who took part, four were offered internships or placements at Hallmark Cards or Tigerprint, while another was offered a placement by Debenhams to work on their children's print designs.

Other offers of potential work have also come in from Orchard Books, Universal Films and design consultancy ny-lon, highlighting the great diversity of careers available to our students in this field. Chris told us that, even after the event, “more offers of work are still coming in - these are only the one's I've heard of through the grapevine.”

We would like to thank and congratulate all of our students who took part in the event, and wish them well in their future careers.
