The Learning and Teaching in Practice (LTP) course, run by Anglia Learning & Teaching, and aligned to Descriptor 1 (AFHEA) of the Professional Standards Framework 2023 (PSF), is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills they will need to teach successfully.
LTP is open to all staff and postgraduate researchers (PGRs) at ARU, including Associate Lecturers. It is specifically at aimed those who are looking to teach at ARU, or those who currently teach/support learning who are not undertaking the PG Cert in Learning & Teaching (e.g. professional services staff, and Associate Lecturers).
LTP is a compulsory requirement for any PGRs teaching at ARU who have not undertaken approved teaching and supporting learning related training, and must be completed and passed before teaching is started. As we offer this course to ARU internal staff and PGRs only, places are funded and there is no cost to participants or their faculties/professional service.
LTP runs over five days and is a blended delivery, with a mix of on-campus workshops, online workshops and asynchronous activities, with a short teaching session (a ‘microteach’) at the end.
LTP introduces topics including planning learning activities and study programmes; how students learn; teaching large and small groups; active learning; inclusion, diversity, and accessibility; giving feedback; online teaching and learning and developing teaching materials. Successful participants have the option to submit an additional teaching and learning related claim to gain Advance HE Associate Fellowship.
Please note: participants will need to attend throughout all five days and pass the assessment of a short teaching session in order to pass the course.
