Over the last couple of months ChatGPT has sprung from nowhere to the forefront of concerns for many academic staff. It has provoked a fear that many of the current methods used for the assessment of students may be compromised by its ability to produce, almost instantly, convincing text on almost any subject area.

You're invited to join us for discussion on artificial intelligence and its possible impact upon academic integrity.

This is an open plenary session for all ARU staff. The session will begin with a very brief demonstration of what ChatGPT can do. Following this, the floor will be open for you, and colleagues, to express opinions, share your concerns, and highlight experiences of the power of AI.

This is not a teaching workshop but a shared forum for discussion. However, the session will be hosted by a panel of staff who have many years of experience in dealing with assessment matters and who will be able to respond to your questions and concerns.
