Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Writtle College

ARU’s mission of transforming lives depends on ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate and succeed.

At ARU – including Writtle College – we're dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported. Recognition and opportunity will be available to all, and people can bring their authentic selves to work and study.

Objectives

Staff

We will make reductions in gender, ethnicity, and disability pay gaps year-on-year by:

  • regularly reviewing our recruitment and progression opportunity practices to ensure equity and inclusivity at every stage
  • fostering a supportive and engaging working environment by providing targeted CPD (continuing professional development) opportunities
  • strengthening mechanisms that amplify employee voices, ensuring that all staff have safe, accessible channels to raise concerns and shape improvements.

Student

We will explore and analyse the experience of our students from protected groups by:

  • carrying our regular analysis of open-ended learner feedback with a view to developing documented case studies of learner-informed EDI impacts on decisions and curriculum
  • conducting focus groups with students from diverse and marginalised backgrounds to track evolving themes of inclusion, belonging, and representation.
