Application

We'll complete a membership application with you and carry out due diligence checks to ensure Arise is the right place for your business.

Becoming a Member

Membership is by application to help ensure the Hubs remain collaborative, innovation-focused environments.

All applications are invited to an informal meeting with one of the Arise team, either in person or virtually. During this discussion, we seek to understand your business, its innovation, growth potential and opportunities for support from the wider ARU/Arise ecosystem and our partners.

We are particularly focused on businesses that work in, or support, the Life Science, Advanced Manufacturing, or Digital and Technology sectors.

Application meetings take approximately 30–45 minutes and are considered by ARU’s Head of Enterprise. We will normally provide a decision within a few days, subject to due diligence checks.

What is due diligence?

All prospective Members undergo due diligence checks to help us maintain a safe, professional, and collaborative environment across our Hubs.

We will require a driving licence and/or passport, together with confirmation of address, for each company director. Once checks are completed successfully, we will normally provide a decision within a few days before commencing onboarding.

Onboarding

Once approved, we'll gather the remaining details for your business, agree your move-in date and service options, and get everything ready for your arrival.

Here you will receive:

  • onboarding form
  • profile information requests
  • useful guidance documents
How long does onboarding usually take?

This varies depending on the type of membership and how quickly documents are returned, but onboarding is typically completed within 2–3 weeks following successful due diligence.

How does the onboarding process work?

Our onboarding process is designed to be straightforward and supportive.

The process typically includes:

  • Confirming and collecting your business information
  • Preparation of your licence agreement
  • Deposit payment and account setup
  • Induction and access arrangements
  • Move-in and membership activation

Our team will guide you through each stage.

What documents will I need to provide?

You will be asked to provide:

  • Driving licence and/or passport and confirmation of home address for company directors
  • Completed onboarding form
  • Team photo and information for your Member Profile
  • Completed ID application form and photo for each member of your team
  • Signed licence agreement
  • Risk assessments for specialist equipment (if applicable)
Almost Time

Here you will receive your licence agreement for review and signature, along with deposit information where applicable.

What happens to my deposit?

Deposits are retained throughout your membership and reconciled in accordance with the terms of your licence agreement at the end of occupancy.

What post services are available?

Subject to fair use, post can:

  • Be collected in person
  • Be held securely for you
  • Be forwarded to an alternative address

Members should inform us how they wish to receive their post during the onboarding process.

Can I receive deliveries?

Yes. Standard business deliveries and courier collections are permitted.

Large, specialist, or high-volume deliveries should be discussed with the Arise team in advance to ensure suitable arrangements can be made.

Are meeting rooms included?

Yes. Your Membership includes a monthly meeting room allowance. Additional hours can be booked if required.

Is WiFi included?

Guest WiFi is available throughout the Hubs, but dedicated member connectivity options require a separate contract, normally with our recommended supplier.

Can I use the Hub outside office hours?

Yes. Members are provided with secure 24/7, 365-day access to the building following induction.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. Members are required to hold appropriate Public Liability Insurance and, where applicable, Employers’ Liability Insurance.

Welcome to Arise

On your start date, the Arise team will provide a health and safety induction, and issue your keys and ID badges. Your membership now officially begins.

What happens during induction?

Your induction is a welcome session covering:

  • The building and facilities
  • General expectations
  • Fire safety and procedures
  • Non-standard office equipment

You will collect your keys and ID cards during this process and can ask any additional questions you may have.

Can visitors come to the Hub?

Yes. Visitors are welcome and free parking is available to them, subject to fair use.

Members are responsible for their guests while on site, and all visitors must sign in on arrival.

Will my business be promoted by Arise?

We love celebrating Member success stories and may share non-confidential information about your business within the Arise ecosystem through social media, newsletters, reports or promotional materials.

We will never intentionally share commercially sensitive information.

Do you allow children in the Hub?

No, not without written permission.

Exceptions may include:

  • Parents or guardians making a brief visit rather than leaving young children unattended elsewhere
  • Pre-arranged school visits or educational activities under appropriate supervision and with prior approval
  • Children attending as clients receiving professional or clinical services provided by a Member, subject to prior approval and appropriate risk assessments

Additional checks, written permission and risk assessments may be required in advance.

Do you allow animals in the Hub?

No, with the exception of Guide Dogs.

What if my business grows quickly?

That is exactly the kind of growth we love to support.

Where possible, we will work with you to identify:

  • Larger office space
  • Additional memberships
  • Overflow arrangements
  • Alternative solutions within the wider Arise ecosystem
Will pricing change?

Potentially, yes. Pricing may change over time to reflect:

  • Operational costs
  • Service changes
  • Inflation/market value
  • Changes to your membership package

Any revised pricing will normally take place at your renewal point and be discussed transparently.

Are there any activities that are not permitted?

To maintain a safe and professional environment, activities that may not be permitted include:

  • Unlawful activity
  • Hazardous industrial operations
  • Excessive noise or nuisance
  • Unsafe equipment use
  • Inappropriate storage
  • Residential use
  • Activity inconsistent with the innovation-focused nature of the hubs

If you are unsure whether something is appropriate, please speak to the Arise team; we are always happy to discuss proposals collaboratively.

Subject to availability and at the discretion of Anglia Ruskin University. The typical journey takes around 2–4 weeks.
