Pre-requisite: Registered Social Worker. Explore the core activities involved in teaching, supporting and assessing the practice of Social Work learners (pre-qualification or post-qualification) within the workplace to meet the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) (2022) guidance for the Practice Educator Professional Standards (PEPS) at Level 1. We’ll enable you to demonstrate, via a portfolio of evidence, that you have fulfilled BASW (2022) guidance by supporting, educating, and assessing a second learner. The second learner could be a social worker student or an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) candidate, or a qualified Social Worker undertaking accredited CPD learning/training. During your studies, you’ll explore theories, and critically reflect on your experiences, to integrate theory and align practice with BASW (2022) guidance and Values statements. You’ll engage in taught sessions which include small group learning activities and with critical reflection in developing your practice and contributing to service provision. You’ll have a Practice Educator Assessor allocated to support, mentor and offer a formative assessment of your practice as a Trainee Practice Educator.
