Join our team of researchers to learn about the benefits and challenges of working with ‘hard to reach groups’ from marginalised and often vulnerable communities, as well as the difficulties in researching politically sensitive themes.

We will cover our work in:

  • the policing needs of trans individuals as perpetrators and victims
  • researching extremism and radicalisation
  • gender-based violence among refugees in Great Britain
  • BME led social enterprises
  • widening access for home-educated applicants to higher education institutions in England.

Each of our presentations will share insights on our specific research journeys, while investigating core social issues, encouraging public engagement, and increasing awareness of our collaboration with communities beyond academia.

There are lots of other exciting events happening during the Chelmsford Science Festival, which runs from 12-18 October 2022. Take a look at the full programme and book your free tickets today.
